Simplifying Societal Standards In our society, the idea of marriage is still deeply ingrained in a little girl’s psyche. Parents still read fairy tales to their small females, embedding in their minds dreamy scenarios of happy ever afters. Millions of princesses in waiting are still aiming to marry that perfect prince. But what about you? Chasing Perfection? Most of us realize later the word perfect should be banned from this equation. There is no perfect princess or prince. There’s just us: imperfect and doing our best every day. So as adults, the eager princesses now grown sometimes cling to this notion of reaching the pinnacle of romance called marriage. That’s okay, it’s all good. But they neglect a very important part of the formula that will ensure success. They neglect themselves. Know Thyself, First Knowing yourself and how to develop enriching relationships is vital to a deep fulfilling connection with your eventual life partner. If you bring maximum to the table it’s less likely you’ll get minimum out of it. So grow those relationships that aren’t romantic. Become intimately familiar with yourself; your dreams, needs, and goals in life. Share and compare with your friends. Bounce experiences and conclusions off each other and support each other. And yes, date lots of princes. Take Your Time & Marry Yourself First
When the time comes to commit you won’t be in doubt about who you are, what you want, or the person you’re promising to share your life with, because you married yourself first.
